Last week, was the lovely Talia’s wedding. The theme & inspiration was purples and we helped to create some vibrant and colourful arrangements in various tones of purple with accents of white and green. The flowers we used included; lavender ocean song roses, off-white avalanche roses, moonlite & moon aqua carnations, off-white spray roses and for the floral arch a combination of tall willow branches with lisianthus in 3 different tones including; blue asenka, croma lavender & rosita purple.

The reception and ceremony was held at the stunning Trinity House in Trinity square, London. The venue was breath-taking and filled with such historical maritime treasures. I was considering swiping the pictured bell if it was not so securely attached to the wall and half of my body weight. If anyone is looking for a venue for either a wedding or an event, Trinity house is definitely top of myrecommendations.

We were recently asked by a client to help recreate a few arrangements using preserved flowers.  For those wondering;

“preserved flowers are real flowers, that have been treated with a unique combination of natural ingredients including glycerine which replaces the plants natural sap, this helps maintain their fresh touch and soft feel. They need no water to survive and will stay fresh for many months or years” verdi-uk.co.uk

I must admit, the quality, appearance and colour of the preserved flowers were impressive. The hydrangeas i ordered had not lost any of it’s colouring nor touch. However, i’m still on the fence regarding preserved flowers. The laziness within, loves the fact that they require no daily maintenance and will keep its appearance,  but the beauty of flowers is its ever changing nature. At 4 X the cost of freshly cut flowers, will there be a mass demand & market for this little niche to flourish?

Rarely do i ever find a magazine i actually read from cover to cover, but EAT ME is definitely one i recommend. Not only is it visually appealing, but the articles and content are interesting and well written. If you are ever struggling for a gift to buy a foodie, their quarterly subscription should do the trick! http://eatmemagazine.wazala.com/

Eat Me is a food culture brand. We explore the world of food culture, considering the subject beyond the realm of simple restaurant reviews and recipes. We understand that food co-exists within everything we do in our daily life, and bears close links to music, film, fashion, travel, art and literature.” http://www.eatmeonline.com/home

A while back for issue 6, the boy’s at EAT ME were kind enough to write a little article/review on The Willow Shoreditch. They have managed to capture and describe The Willow Shoreditch, far better and eloquently than i could have imagined, so a BIG MASSIVE THANK YOU! following my previous blog and its ‘dark & romantic ‘ theme, here are a few pictures from the lovely Maria’s wedding, late October 2011. Maria wanted to combine dark twigs and foliage with vintage brown roses & accents of honesty (a blast from the past!).  She didn’t want anything too pretty and preferred a slightly darker & gothic aesthetic.  The final bouquet was probably my favorite of the year as it is sometimes nice to break away from the norm & pretty. Let me know your thoughts?
